Penguin Dive was formed initially when Krongo and Matt ran an ad in the paper asking for musicians interested in a Christian rock back to respond. That's when they found Joe, Mark (no longer in the band) and Laurie (no longer in the band). They were originally knowns as "Arimathea," which was subsequently changed to "Arimathaea" when they found out that the former spelling was taken. Then, when Mark was dismissed from the band, they decided to go a new route and call themselves by the current moniker.
